45th Parallel North

On November 6, 2008 my mother died after a long battle with various cancers. She was born in Japan - her ashes were put in the Pacific Ocean where currents should end up back in Japan (circle of life). Having lived in the Twin Cities, Minnesota, a sign on Broadway notes it is on the 45th parallel north as well as spending many summers in Southern France, there are more of these signs. And Japan's northern islands are also on the 45th parallel north.

So began a 3 year journey in my studio flying west from Hokkaido, with endangered birds, circumnavigating the globe at the 45th Parallel North.
